New Year New Goals!

by will on January 10, 2010

Ready for a new year packed with exciting achievements? Over the last twelve years I have been studying goal-setting and achievement and have found some amazing processes in the four corners of the earth. What this quest for knowledge has done is provide me with a 10 step goal-setting process that really works. But it is not as a result of picking just one of these goal-setting approaches, it’s been about combining them in a kind of exotic recipe. The wonderful thing about cooking up recipes is that the end result is always more tasty than the individual ingredients you’ve combined and that’s no exception in this goal-setting concoction. Over the next few weeks, I am going to share this goal setting process with you so that you can use it for yourself and enjoy the exquisite dessert such recipes produce. 9 years ago I was doing a regular job (teaching), earning a regular wage with regular prospects. Today I enjoy being the published author of ten books, being well known in educational coaching circles, commanding substantial fees for speaking engagements, training and one to one coaching sessions. I have far more discretionary time than I ever had in employment and now run a fabulous training centre in The UK Midlands from which courses and coaching run. Pretty much every dream I have plugged into the goal-setting system has worked out as I had planned. Those that haven’t (they are few and far between) have always yielded learning which has helped me tweak my approach for the future. I am going to share this system with you via my blog so that you can also enjoy the benefits of Recipe for Success.
The first two steps are here, the rest will follow…..
Step 1: Find a quiet time to sit down and still your mind through some deep breathing, ensure there are no other stimuli at this time. Sit like this for 10-15 minutes or until you feel calm and still.

Step 2 Review your last year’s successes – take around half an hour to review your successes from the 12 months. If there are significant positive events just outside a 12 month period include those too. List them all from memory. Next go through your diary for the last 12 months and notice the other successes that emerge from this.
